The concept behind this prototype is to meet the requests presented at the kick-off event.  In particular this applicaiont has two major features

  • a set of synced maps, each with an overlaying choropleth to show data quartiles
  • merging of additional data from http://www.census.gov/

The MASS Edu Data is a subset of the core data set, and was chosen to reflect the choices available in the "District
Analysis, Review and Assistance Tools (DART)"  http://www.doe.mass.edu/apa/dart/

This is  prototype was constructed to demonstrate  a concept within the bounds of the challenge constraints.  The functionality and data sources were purposly limited at this stage of developement.  The concept can easily be extended in several ways:

  • Use of full set of MASS Edu Data through the use of a  PhP server side hosting of the data
  • Use of a more complete set of US Census data by the use of DB queires to the US Census server
  • Drill-down below distict levels to school level aggregation
  • Assorted filters for district type, grade, or any other attributes available in the data sets

The site is designed to be viewed on a tablet sized screen (1024x768)

This site is currently best viewed on Chrome (V35), Firefox(V30), and  IE10, IE11

The marker pop-ups on the maps may  not work with all touch devices.
