Natural Language Color

The technology behind “Color By Words”

We are committed to making great color accessible to everyone. Our research team developed an innovative technology for editing color called Natural Language Color. You can now use common color words and phrases to change and improve images. Simple instructions like "Make the sky blues a lot more vivid" are translated by the software into complex color adjustments.

Realtors can improve the colors in their sales flyers. Small business owners can enhance products and imagery in their collaterals. Great color is now in everyone's hands. Try it out and let us know what you think.

Natural Language Color Editing is available as “Color By Words” in the Xerox Phaser 7500 color printer. (Please note that the Phaser 7500 implementation differs from what is shown here at Open Xerox.)

Very cool

This is one of the coolest colour technologies I've ever used. Congratulations Xerox.

Voice recognition?

I like the concept, and the demo is pretty cool. Just curious though - are there any plans to add voice recognition? Might make it easier and faster for users to get what they want. Don't know how hard it would be though.

re: Voice recognition?

Voice recognition is definitely something we are looking into. It's one of our most requested features.

Fantastic

This fantastic software looks incredibly useful and it's really user friendly. Congratulations !

Re: Fantastic

Thanks! Glad you like it! Stay tuned for more exciting improvements to come.

stand-alone communication tool

Any thought of turning this into a stand-alone application to assist communication between image professionals and their customers? We are commercial photographers and digital printers and are often faced with customer requests such as "can we make the image less red". If the client could easily see the visual result of their request before making it they, for example, may realize that what they really meant was "slightly less magenta". An application that could operate on a simple image (jpg, pdf, etc) and produce either a modified image or simply a list of instructions could be very useful.

Re: stand-alone communication tool

Thanks for your comments, David. We are exploring several different mechanisms for delivering this technology to our customers. A stand-alone tool (or Photoshop plug-in) is on the table, and we are evaluating the appropriate business model to do so.

Very powerful interface

This interface is very powerful yet easy to use. Thanks.

Re: Very powerful interface

Thanks for the positive feedback, Daniel!

Browser issue

Just to let you know I tried the site using Safari 4 on Mac OS. Unfortunately the images did not render (I only had placeholders :-(
